Soheila Sokhanvari
Shortlisted for the Catlin Art Prize 2012
Soheila Sokhanvari is an Iranian born contemporary artist. She obtained her first degree in Biochemistry and worked for Cambridge University as a research Scientist in the field of Adult Leukaemia. She left science to pursue full-time studies in art and completed a postgraduate diploma in Fine Art at Chelsea College of Art & Design, London before going to Goldsmiths College, University of London.
Traditionally trained in the art of Persian Miniature her work is informed by her heritage of Persian poetry and narrative inspired by magical imagery of “one Thousand and One Arabian Nights”. Her philosophy is inspired by the writings of FM-2030.
